The History of RTB Northwest

What is the history behind RTB?

  • RTB was established in 2016 by Jason Lanktree and Michael Fagan.  Have both been longtime tournament directors and business partners, they decided to start their own company and run nationally.
They initially had a format in mind, but have since switched to a more open-minded, area-specific event series.  There are no STANDARD formats.  Area managers can run any event that is popular or will draw for their area.  For example, Michael runs mainly singles event in the Chicago-land area, where as Andy runs a variety of singles and team formats in the Northwest.  Jason runs exclusively Swiss style events in Montana.

When did RTB Northwest start?

  • The first RTB NW event took place at Hazel Dell Lanes in Vancouver on August 13, 2016.  The doubles event was 13 teams and saw Kurt Andersen and Alex Oathes defeat Darrell Fitts and Jon Heiden in the final.  It was a good start, and less than 2 months later, we were drawing 24 teams at Starlite Lanes in Dallas, OR.  That event I feel is what really got RTB NW rolling!

We are actively seeking new areas to come aboard.  Anyone who has interest in running RTB events in their area can contact me (Andy Schmidt) to inquire.  We are about to start running in Cleveland OH again with Jeff Cox.
